Out of Sight, Out of Mind

I don’t buy books. I read pretty quickly and books are pricey. This means libraries are my best friend. A ton of books that I can borrow, read, and give back. The only fly in this ointment is keeping up with the library books.

I like to joke that late fees are part of how I support our local libraries. Currently, I have two books that are due tomorrow. I have no idea where they are. One of the things I’ve realized this year is that the inattentiveness of ADHD is probably one of the most aggravating things. 

Once I put something in a bag, there’s a 95% chance that I’ll forget it by the time I get home. It’s unfortunate because bags are really handy for carrying things in. So far this year I’ve forgotten swim clothes (multiple times), library books, lunchboxes, and notably, last month I forgot an entire grocery bag in the trunk. 

Fortunately, nothing terrible has come of these incidents but the little things add up financially and emotionally. It’s part of the invisible stress of ADHD. On the upside, I did learn that adding vinegar to the rinse cycle will get the mildew smell out of clothes.
